Enjoy the CP holiday train concert at home on December 12

This year, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the CP Holiday Train Celebration is moving on line. On Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 7 PM CST Serena Ryder and The Trews will headline CP's 2020 Holiday Train at Home concert, which will stream via Facebook Livestream on CP's Facebook page. The concert will also feature performances by JoJo Mason, Logan Staats, and Kelly Prescott.

The event will raise money and awareness and help local food banks collect much-needed donations.
Holiday Train fans will be able to view the concert by visiting facebook.com/canadian.pacific at the show's start time. An archived version of the show will remain on the page for later viewing.

CP Holiday Train has been cancelled for 2020

The CP Holiday Train has been cancelled this year due to the pandemic. This is the first time since the train’s inception in 1999 that it has been cancelled. The train has raised money for local food banks, but this year CP will donate to food banks across the route of the holiday this year and host virtual concerts.

The holiday train has raised $17.8 million while collecting 4.8 million pounds of food for local food banks over the past 21 years. Details about the virtual concerts will be released at a later date. CP said it plans to resume the holiday train in 2021.

The CP holiday train arrives in Manitoba today

The CP holiday train arrives in Whitemouth, Manitoba at 6:45PM today. It will arrive in Winnipeg at 9:00PM at the grade crossing at Panet Road and Molson Street.

On Tuesday, December 3, the train will arrive in Portage La Prairie at 11:15AM. Then it will arrive in Neepawa at 2:45PM, then at Minnedosa at 4:00PM. It will make its final Manitoba stop at Shoal Lake at 7:15PM. Featured performers this year are Scott Helman and Madeline Merlo.

 WMRC Social Media Director Paul Ullrich went rail fanning with WMRC Past President Larry Leavens and WMRC Divisions Manager Gino Kost and caught these photos of the CP Holiday Train when it arrived in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. A few other club members were also present, including Cliff Davidson, Felix Lesiuk and Louis Lenz. Enjoy!

We have some exclusive images of the CP holiday train, taken by our intrepid photographer, Felix "scoop" Lesiuk, who caught the train heading east just outside of Winnipeg on November 14. It has both the U.S. and Canadian sections, which is why is so long and has two different stage cars.

The CP holiday will be coming to Manitoba early next month! We will be posting the schedule shortly on the site and on our Facebook page.

CP to run special train to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday.

CP has announced that they will be running a train across Canada to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday. The train will be in Winnipeg on Friday, August 4th, from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Southdale Community Centre, 254 Lakewood Boulevard. 

The CP F-unit 1401 will lead the train, hauling over 10 CP heritage cars. A highlight at each stop is the opportunity to take part in decorating a special car named the Spirit of Tomorrow. Children can write their hopes for the Canada of tomorrow on a commemorative card. The cards will be attached to the car. This car will be included in CP's 2017 Holiday Train.

Also included in the train is CP's  stage car where Dallas Arcand, champion Aboriginal hoop dancer and Juno award-winning country music singer Dean Brody will be performing.

The CP Holiday Train is coming to town!

The CP holiday Train is coming to town!

So you better be good, or else your parents (or your wife) won’t let you go see it!

The train pulls into Manitoba on Friday, December 2. Performing on the train this year is Juno award winning country star Dallas Smith. 

The train first arrives in Whitemouth, on Railway Ave. across from Whitemouth Hotel at 6:45 PM. The show lasts from 7:00 PM to  7:30 PM.  Then it barrels down to Winnipeg, arriving at Molson St. (Panet Road and Munroe Avenue) at 9:00PM. The show starts at 9:15PM and ends at 9:45 PM. 

It arrives on Saturday, December 3 at Portage la Prairie, Opposite the Centennial Arena, 390-1st St. NW at 3:45 PM. The show goes from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Next stop is Brandon, by Assiniboine Ave, west of the 8th street overpass at 6:45 PM, with the show going from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM

The last Manitoba stop is at Virden at 10:15AM on Sunday, December 4, at the north side of tracks on 5th ave S between Lyons Street & Ashburton Street. The show goes from 10:30AM to 11:00AM.

Since its launch in 1999, the CP Holiday Train has raised more than C$12 million and 3.9 million pounds of food for communities in Canada and the northern U.S. Everything raised stays with the local food bank. Please bring heart healthy donations. Heart health education and awareness is a tenet of CP's community program, CP Has Heart.

The CP holiday train is coming to town!

It's that time of the year again! The CP holiday train will be rolling into Winnipeg on Friday, December 4, arriving at Molson Street between Panet Road and Munroe Avenue at 9:00 PM. Showtime is from 9:15 to 9:45, and the featured performers this year are Devin Cuddy and Kelly Prescott.

Kelly Prescott is no stranger to Holiday Train. She has taken part in numerous U.S. tours and was featured on many of the past Holiday Train CD's, including the gold record release in 2005. In 2013 she shared the stage with Sheryl Crow and Take Six on the Holiday Train 15th anniversary show in Minnesota.​​​ Devin Cuddy is the son of one of Canada's most beloved singer/songwriters, Blue Rodeo's Jim Cuddy, country rock has been the soundtrack to Devin's entire life.
 
The train will also make stops at Portage la Prairie on December 5 opposite the Centennial Arena on 390-1st St. NW at 1:15 PM. It then arrives at Minnedosa at 5:00 PM west of the station on the north side of the yard, 30 2nd Ave, NW. It makes its last stop in Manitoba at Shoal Lake by the gravel lot adjacent to grain elevator on North Railway Avenue at 8:15 PM. 

The Lantern's photo contest deadline is December 29!

    Robert Weaver, the stalwart editor of The Lantern (the official publication of the WMRC) , would like to remind all members that the deadline for January's photo contest is fast approaching! The deadline is on Monday, December 29 at midnight. Up to $30 is available in prize money, and you'll get you photo on the cover of The Lantern if you win!

   December's theme was "The Spirit of Christmas". This month's theme is "snow" (but we'd like to see a train somewhere in there as well). It doesn't have to be a prototype photo - we accept images of model railroads too, as long as they've got some snow on or around them somewhere.  Be sure to submit your image in a vertical format!

   December's winner was the dashing and intrepid Paul Lemon, who shot this wonderful image of the CP Holiday Train. Paul is one of 10 members we have from across the pond, and we're grateful to each and every one of them for their many contributions and devotion to the club!
