The Assiniboine Park Railroad makes the cover of the Winnipeg Free Press business section

Our good friend Tim Buzunis of the Assiniboine Park Railroad made the front page of the business section of the Winnipeg Free Press last week! 

The beloved train missed a few days in May due to the extremely dry conditions when they weren't allowed to run due to the fire hazard. But now the Crown Metal made, 61 year old American 4-4-0, the only live ride-on steam train operating in a city park in Canada, is running every day, all summer long from noon to six. Come on down to the park and take a ride today!

Do you still feel the need for steam after the CPKC 2816 left town, and you’ve sunk to the lowest depths of despair because the Prairie Dog Central’s venerable engine number three is still in the shop? Then stop by for a ride on Manitoba’s one and only live steam train that’s still operating at Assiniboine Park!

The Assiniboine Park steam train will be celebrating its 60th anniversary on Monday, July 29 between 11:00AM and 6:00PM. Stop by and join the celebration, and have a piece of cake too! What could be better than a ride behind a live steamer and cake?

 The price for a ride is just four bucks cash per person, but if you flash owner / operator Tim Buzunis a debit card it’ll cost you a quarter extra.

 

The Assiniboine Park Steam Train needs your help

With the Assiniboine Valley Railway and the Prairie Dog Central Railway suspending operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the only train ride available is the Assiniboine Park Steam Train. Unfortunately, ridership on this authentic stream train is way down, and they need your help! They need at least 12 passengers per ride to break even, so why not go down to the park and take a ride?

They're open from noon to six every day, and a ride costs only $3.25. To book a ride, please call  204-831-0197 and leave a message. If you do not receive a call back on the same day, then that means that the train is not running that day.
