These are not kits! Tyler Fedoroshyn designed and printed these Jordan Spreaders!

These are not model kits! These Jordan Spreaders are entirely 3D designed and printed by WMRC member Tyler Fedoroshyn! They began as 3D CAD drawings, broken down into about 60 pieces, and printed on his AnyCubic Photon 3D printer. They were then assembled, painted and scaled to match the prototype.

The one difference between Jordan spreaders is the size of the side wings. Tyler has designed four different wing styles to match the CP, CN, BN and ONR Jordan Spreaders. Tyler is offering the Jordan Spreader model as a kit.

Along with the Jordan Spreaders, the snow plow and the SD-40-2 are representative of modern CP snow fighting trains which Tyler modified or custom built after the equipment around the Lake Louise station.
 

Two great programs on tap at Winnipeg Model Railroad Club's October meeting

At our October meeting, which will be held on Friday,  October 18,  Dave Downie will present part three of “Rebirth of a Model Railroad”. Lots of work has been done by Dave with scenery and structures, and he’ll have lots of before, during and after photos to guide us through the process.

Terry Viddal will make a presentation on track maintenance on the prototype and model railroad. Terry worked for over 30 years in track maintenance for CN. He will cover various aspects of track maintenance, including photos of a Jordan Spreader in operation. He has some great ideas that you can use on your layout!

The fun begins at 7:30 at the Tank Room in the Charleswood Legion, 6003 Roblin Boulevard. The canteen will be open and we'll also have our monthly model display. Not a member? Not a problem! Guests are always warmly welcomed. 

Winnipeg Model Railroad Club's October meeting date has been changed to October 18

Please note that the date of the meeting has been moved from Friday, October 11 to Friday, October 18, as the Charleswood Legion's Tank Room will be used for advance polling for the Federal election.The meeting will be held at 7:30 PM as usual.

Aaron Woloshyn sweeps awards at Winnipeg Model Railroad Club's annual banquet

The big winner for the WMRC's annual model contest, held at the club's spring open house in April, was Aaron Woloshyn, who walked away with seven awards. Among the awards Aaron has garnered were the Clark Summers memorial award for his model of an HO rail section car and the Tyro award for his model of a Jordan spreader. 

Aaron is one of our newest and youngest members, and it is very rare for someone to win both of these awards in the same year. The Tyro award is given to someone who has shown exceptional modelling skills but has never won a WMRC award before. But Aaron's modelling skills were so exceptional that receiving just the Tyro award wasn't enough!

Aaron also won first place in the locomotive and the non-revenue competition. He also won third place in the non-revenue competition, third place in structures and the special event.

Aaron Woloshyn wins Tyro and Clark Summers awards

Aaron Woloshyn is definitely the WMRC's most prolific model contest winner for 2016! He's won seven awards this year, including the prestigious Clark Summers award and the Tyro award. He won the Clark Summers award for his model of a CN rail section car (pictured above). He received the Tyro award for his very unique model of a CN Jordan spreader (pictured below).  Congratulations, Aaron! Keep up the good work!
