Winnipeg Model Railroad club to hold its first in-person meeting in a year on September 17

The Winnipeg Model Railroad Club will hold its first in-person meeting in a year on September 17 in the tank room at the Charleswood Legion, 6003 Roblin Boulevard.  The meeting has been moved from its usual date on the second Friday of the month to Friday, September 17 because the Tank Room is being used for advance polling. Capacity at the Tank Room at the Legion is limited to 50 persons. The Legion requires all visitors to the building to show proof of full vaccination before entry. This is important as the Tank Room is also being used as a day care center. If you cannot show proof of vaccination, you will not be allowed to enter. As of August 25, the province has mandated that masks will be required in all public places. The meeting starts at 7:30 PM.

Two great programs on tap at Winnipeg Model Railroad Club's October meeting

At our October meeting, which will be held on Friday,  October 18,  Dave Downie will present part three of “Rebirth of a Model Railroad”. Lots of work has been done by Dave with scenery and structures, and he’ll have lots of before, during and after photos to guide us through the process.

Terry Viddal will make a presentation on track maintenance on the prototype and model railroad. Terry worked for over 30 years in track maintenance for CN. He will cover various aspects of track maintenance, including photos of a Jordan Spreader in operation. He has some great ideas that you can use on your layout!

The fun begins at 7:30 at the Tank Room in the Charleswood Legion, 6003 Roblin Boulevard. The canteen will be open and we'll also have our monthly model display. Not a member? Not a problem! Guests are always warmly welcomed. 

Rapido's Jason Shron will be at the Winnipeg Model Railroad Club on August 8

Jason Shron of Rapido Trains is making a very special visit to the Winnipeg Model Railroad Club on Wednesday, August 8. This event is open to all model railroaders in the Winnipeg area, whether you're a WMRC member or not.

Jason will provide an overview of Rapido Trains and take you behind the scenes at the company. You'll see how Rapido products are made, how the company decides what to make and the challenges involved in manufacturing model trains. 

Jason will stay following his presentation and answer any questions that you might have about his company and the model railroad industry – past, present and future.
