Watch the Gateway Western Railway in action on Shaw TV's Off the Hook
Garth Bowman, host of Shaw TV's "Off The Hook", just sent us this great You Tube link for the latest episode of his show, which features the WMRC's Gateway Western! The 30 minute show also showcases our own Darryl Audette and his marvelous work as a professional set designer, featuring his work in an upcoming stage production of Frankenstein.
There is also a piece about Legions Maxximus, Winnipeg's premiere model hobby show, who are having a show this weekend, March 16 through 18, at the #4 Legion Hall, 1755 Portage Avenue. For more information of this great event, go to http://legionsmaxximus.com/
The segment on the Gateway features an interview with Gateway Superintendent Gino Kost, interspersed with some great shots of the Gateway's trains in action. You might also recognize a few handsome faces of some of our members operating the railway.
If you're not a Shaw TV subscriber, you can see it right on You Tube by going to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An6HwbU-ScM&feature=youtu.be

See Dennis Rietz's crawlspace layout on Train Town on Shaw TV
Dennis Rietze (left) explains the challenges of building a layout in a crawl space to Glenn Klaeesn during a recent layout hop organized by the Winnipeg Model Railroad Club.
Shaw TV's second Train Town episode features our own Dennis Rietze's layout in a crawl space. The five and a half minute long video is available to Shaw subscribers and also on You Tube.
The showcasing of his layout is a bittersweet moment for Dennis and the WMRC, as he and his wife LuElla will be moving soon, and the layout will have to be dismantled.
The next episode of Train Town will be shot at the WMRC's annual spring open house, which will be held April 1st and 2nd at the Charleswood Legion, 6003 Roblin Boulevard. Hours are from 11:00AM to 4:00PM for both days. Admission is by donation, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to St. Amant.

Lloyd Smith's layout featured on Shaw TV
WMRC Program Director Morgan Turney took this photo of Lloyd Smith being interviewed by Shaw TV reporter Kevin Hirschfield, literally surrounded by Lloyd's spectacular layout!
The third video segment on the layouts of WMRC members produced by Shaw TV features Lloyd Smith's massive basement layout. Lloyd, a long time member of the WMRC, has a layout that gradually expanded until it took over most of the basement. As you can see, there's some fine modelling work done here! To view the video, click here.
These features were produced in promotion for the club's annual open house, which is happening this coming weekend, April 2nd and 3rd, at the Charleswood Legion, 6003 Roblin Boulevard. There will be some great layouts and displays, our annual photo and model contest, trains, trains and more trains! The canteen will be open, and hot dogs are on the menu! Hours are from 11AM to 4PM both days, handicap accessible. Hope to see you all there!
