Lester’s latest project is a Sunshine Models resin Southern Pacific kit of a single-sheathed rebuilt boxcar. We have found that the “how to” posts we have had on this blog have been very popular, and we have not seen anyone who does these posts is such detail better than Lester Breuer. You can see how he built this model by clicking here.

He has a blog titled The Minneapolis and Northland Railroad Company, in which he tracks his modelling projects step-by-step from start to finish in a very user friendly, easy to follow format.

Take a ride on the Tshiuetin railway in Northern Quebec
Looking for a unique rail fanning experience? Want to get away from it all? Then take a ride on the Tshiuetin railway in Northern Quebec!
Tshiuetin Rail Transportation runs Canada’s only privately owned passenger rail service. It is owned by three First Nations in the region. Tshiuetin means “north wind”. They run a twice weekly passenger train from Sept-Îles to Schefferville, Quebec. The head end crew and track for the 132.5 mile trip are provided by the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway, which is owned by the Iron Ore Company of Canada.
You find more about them by going to their web site at https://www.tshiuetin.net/?lang=en. There is a good thread about the train on trainorders.com and a CBC documentary on YouTube.
Our good friend Steve Boyko, author of the popular rail fanning blog, Confessions of a Train Geek, also has an excellent post about long time WMRC member Alan Graham's journey on the train, which he rode in 2017. You can read all about his adventures in Northern Quebec by going to https://blog.traingeek.ca/2017/07/three-passenger-trains-in-northern-quebec.html

Watch the history of Winnipeg's Union Station
This year marks the 110th anniversary of the opening of Winnipeg's Union Station. Ten years ago, the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) produced a 15 minute documentary retrospective to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the station. The film played on a loop in a special display at the station to celebrate its anniversary and its recent refurbishment. You can view the film by clicking here.

Learn how to hold it all together at the Winnipeg Model Railroad Club's next virtual meeting
At the WMRC's next virtual meeting past president Larry Leavens will show you how to "hold it all together" with a presentation about using glue and mechanical fasteners for bench work, scenery and modelling.
We'll also have Ivan Paradis, who will make a presentation about his layout, the Elva Subdivision of the CNR. Ivan will provide a tour of his layout describing his design logic and many other features. He will also talk about the use of scenic dividers, how different elements come together and the "scale distances" between them.
The meeting starts on Zoom on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 7:30PM. All members will be sent an email provided with a link. If you are not a member and wish to attend, please email us at wmrc.trainclub@gmail.com. Guests are always warmly welcomed, even virtual ones!
