Winnipeg Model Railroad Club's blog reaches its fifth anniversary

Five years ago today the WMRC went online in a big way when their blog was created by their newly appointed social media director Paul Ullrich (with a lot of help from his wife Margaret, who has two very popular blogs, Winnipeg is Better than Chocolate and I'm Turning 60). The blog got 90 views on the very first day. As of today, it has had 208, 540 views and has a worldwide audience.

605 posts have been created and archived for anyone to view. Thanks to all of our club members, model railroaders and rail fans throughout the world who have made this blog such a success!

Morgan Turney wins Best in Show at Winnipeg Model Railroad Club's annual model contest

WMRC Program Director Morgan Turney won the Winnipeg Model Railroad Club's Best in Show award at the club's annual model contest for his model of a TH&B  GP-7. Morgan originally hails from Hamilton, Ontario. But one day he came to his senses and left Steeltown for good and moved to the proud prairie town of Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is Better than Chocolate.

However, Morgan occasionally pines for his hometown, as anyone who has been to a Bomber game and has seen him wearing a Ti-Cats jersey can attest. He also loves to model his beloved Toronto, Hamilton and Buffalo Railway, and this Geep is a fine example of his modelling work.

This is the official web site of the Winnipeg Model Railroad Club

Make no mistake - this the official site, sanctioned by the board.

Our website used to be at the Sweden Freezer website, which was operated by long term member Bill Taylor. Due to his untimely and unfortunate death, the club needed a new web presence. Our space on the Sweden Freezer website hadn't been updated since the spring of 2013.

At our request,  Phil Mendelshon, the AVR's present webmaster,  has taken all information pertaining to the WMRC off the website and provided a link to our new website.

Now when you Google the "Winnipeg Model Railroad Club" with quote marks, this website shows up first, followed by WMRC webmaster's wife Margaret Ullrich's popular events, blog, Winnipeg is Better than Chocolate.   The CP Rail Manitoba and Minnesota Subdivision, a blog operated by long time WMRC member and Winnipeg Free Press faith columnist John Longhurst, shows up as fifth on the list.
